Entering its 9th year, Battle of The Buffet organized by Chennai Mission, United Way of Chennai and CIOSA is Chennai’s curtain riser to Daan Utsav (earlier Joy of Giving Week). A gala fun filled evening with great food, fantastic music, and the coming together of like-minded people – all for a social cause!
Chefs of leading 5 star hotels and their teams will cook up a storm (literally) to put together a delightful buffet (Indian and international cuisine) showcasing their culinary talent and throw it open to the people of Chennai, to raise funds for over 70 NGOs across Tamil Nadu. The restaurants, the chefs and their teams cook up and serve a feast as their “act of giving”.
Playback singer of Colonial Cousins fame, Padma Shri awardee and National Awardee Shri. Hariharan will be performing live and enthralling the audience, taking up the fun quotient by several notches!
Close to 3000 Chennaites are expected to attend the event by donating Platinum -Rs.15,000, Gold -Rs.10,000, Silver - Rs.7,500, each for a NGOs they care and support – their “act of giving”!
The registered NGOs in turn will be present in person sharing and show casing their expertise and projects, thus providing a great platform for public interaction on social causes and action underway!
Funds raised could help educate a child, provide shelter to the elderly, subsidize medical costs for a poor patient, rehabilitate a mentally ill homeless woman and reach out to several more such underprivileged people.
Since its inception in 2009 this fundraising event has raised close to Rs. 25 crores, benefitting hundreds of NGOs. BoB 2016 edition of BoB supported nearly 31 projects to the tune of 3.5 crores.
In short the event facilitates collective positive change for the greater good - an evening that provides food for the mind, body, soul and spirit!

Dinner: Savor sumptuous dishes from around the world served up by Chennai’s finest five star hotels and restaurants. (From 8:30 pm onwards)
Seva Mela: Walk around, visit stalls of over 70 NGOs and engage to know first hand how they reach out and touch lives. (Through out the day)
